“This is the agreed price,” he said, pushing the bag over to me, “although, you will find a bit extra within it as well. Consider it an apology for missing our meeting yesterday, as well as for a job well done—I have personally inspected the cargo, and taken note that every item was in pristine condition. Oh and here is the receipt stating that I have received my shipment,” he added, pulling a parchment from his coat and sliding it down as well.
“Thank you, Merchant Tumbledrum,” I said, taking the items, “that is very kind.”
“No, it is a well-earned payment, Captain,” he continued, “It was a bold thing you and your crew did—sailing this close to the storm season; it takes guts.”
“It certainly is a test upon a man’s mind,” I agreed. “I had no peace from the time we left Driftwood until we reached Durodia.”
“Well I believe it shows promise,” stated the merchant, his voice indicating that he was leading into a topic. “And it is why I wondered if I could perhaps employ your services for an equally bold voyage.”
